Colorado Springs is a modern city with a small town feel. Tourism is a very important part of Colorado Springs. Many of the abundant family friendly activities revolve around the outdoors and the amazing beauty surrounding the Colorado Springs area. If you are not fond of outdoor activities, you will still find plenty to do while in the Springs. Most of the activities are reasonably priced; in fact, some are even FREE!
Here are some of our favorite family friendly attractions in Colorado Springs.
AIR FORCE ACADEMY- Exit 156B on Interstate 25, Colorado Springs
Learn more about the history of the Air Force and the Air Force Academy at the informative visitor's center. Take a short walk along a path to the distinctive Academy Chapel. Watch for chipmunks and other wildlife along the way. There is a sandwich shop in the visitor's center.
GARDEN OF THE GODS- 1805 N. 30 St, Colorado Springs
Drive or hike though the towering sandstone rock formations, including amazing balancing rock and shiprock. There are plenty of parking areas so you can get out and walk around. Many picnic areas. Visitor and Nature Center has an observation deck and interesting hands-on exhibits. There is a cafe at the center.
GHOST TOWN MUSEUM- 400 S. 21st St., Colorado Springs
Interesting look back at old pioneer towns of the West. Inside the building you can follow the boardwalk past displays including merchants, a Saloon and a Victorian home. Hands on fun includes old time arcade machines and panning for gold. Watch little ones closely since there are some areas which are display only and can not be touched.
MAGIC TOWN- 2418 W. Colorado Ave., Colorado Springs
This fun display is located in the Michael Garman Art Studio and Shop. The display shows life in a miniature neighborhood. Such amazing detail! The scenes change, thanks to the use of holograms and mirrors. Keep watching and you will see different areas totally transform.
MANITOU CLIFF DWELLINGS- Hwy 24, Manitou
Tucked under a red sandstone overhand are the 700 hundred year old Anasazi cliff dwellings called Manitou Cliff Dwellings. Climb around inside and truly experience these historical structures. The kids loved the fact they could actually touch the ruins and walk in them (unlike many areas where the ruins are hands-off). Often times there is Native American dancing in the summer months. Snack stand is available during the summer.
MONEY MUSEUM- 818 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs
Learn everything you have wanted to know about money! There is a large exhibit of rare currency. The facility hosts a variety of exhibits throughout the year so it's a new adventure every time you visit. This is educational and fun!
NORTH POLE- 5050 Pikes Peak Hwy., Cascade
For generations families have enjoyed this Christmas-themed amusement park at the base of Pikes Peak. The rides are appropriate for a variety of age groups, from an antique carousel and mini roller coaster to the Scrambler and Tilt-a-Whirl. We like the fact that they put rides for young children next to rides for older children (and adults). The lines are usually very short; oftentimes we have been there when there were no lines at all. Scattered throughout the village are shops and restaurants. There are goats to feed with feed from coin-operated dispensers. Moms and Dads will appreciate that they have hand sanitizer conveniently nearby. Be sure to visit Santa's House to visit with Santa and stop by the ever frozen North Pole. This is truly one of our all-time favorite locations in Colorado Springs!
Friendly smiling faces, a comfortable climate, abundant attractions, hotels and restaurants-- Colorado Springs has lots to offer!

Italy's Le Marche: Dream Homes for All Tastes and Budgets
Italy is a deservedly popular option for people looking to buy or rent a home in Europe. After all, it offers superb scenery, beaches, all the culture you could want and a fabulous cuisine. It's also the home of La Dolce Vita where the living is soft and sweet.
But many are put off by the crowds that throng the tourist haunts and high prices of such places as Tuscany and Umbria. If this is you, don't despair. Italy's best-kept secret of Le Marche awaits.
Located in central Italy near Tuscany and Umbria, the Marches (pronounced Lay Markay and locally spelled Le Marche) is a verdant region that slopes down from central Italy to the lovely beaches and harbours on the Adriatic. It's a ruggedly beautiful region with its waterfalls, oak trees, olive groves and vineyards. It also offers towns and cities full of splendours with palazzos, monasteries, abbeys and renaissance churches.
Le Marche's cultural charms can rival those of any in Italy. You can visit Urbino, birthplace of the painter Raphael, Pesaro where operatic composer Rossini was born, and admire countless treasures of the renaissance. And unlike overcrowded Florence, you'll be free of jostling crowds and tourist prices.
To visit Le Marche is to fall under its spell. And if you then decide to acquire your dream home there, you have a wide range of choices.
How about a grand villa with swimming pool? Drenched in history and refurbished for the complete modern lifestyle, such a property is available for just 1250000 Euros.
Set on 2 hectares of land and located just 3 kilometres from the beach, the villa features extensive gardens graced with Mediterranean pines, oaks, oleanders, lavenders, and roses.
The villa has space to spare. It boasts 3 large living rooms, 5 bedrooms all with bathrooms, and a spacious kitchen with open fire. There's also a playroom for children. Such a property is truly baronial but you'll find many other delightful houses at prices that everyone can afford.
Take for example, Cà Lucilla, a rural house set in a delightful country village yet close to a historic town. The house measures 120 by 140 metres and is set an enclosed garden of 1000 square metres. This offers all the privacy you could need. This property needs restoration work but is a steal at 46500 Euros.
Buying or renting such a property offers you a taste of the traditional Italian lifestyle but with all the essential comforts of modern life. So how do you go about acquiring your dream property?
For a hassle-free procedure, you'll need to contact a local firm that specializes in the sale and rent of properties in the area. The firm should have both the technical expertise to survey and evaluate property along with an intimate knowledge of the legal and administrative procedures that are part of the bureaucratic process that accompanies any rent, lease or sale of property.
But before contacting such a firm, you'll have to decide some matters yourself. For example, you have to set your budget and have a clear idea of the type of home you want. Spend some time traveling around the region and get a feel for what kind of houses are available. It’s a large area so this will take some time.
Remember, when you acquire a house in the Marches, you're getting more than just a roof over your head; you're becoming part of the whole tradition and lifestyle of this delightful Italian region.

Four Antique German

Get the Best Home Décor From Online Antiques Stores
Buying and selling antiques from online antiques stores is becoming a very popular business for many people. There are many different types of antiques that you can buy and sell at these resources on the internet. Often certain types of antiques are more popular than other antiques. If you are planning on buying and selling antiques you need to understand the market and how to make it work for you.
The best way to establish yourself is to find the most unique item that you can. It or they should be fairly easy for you to acquire. The next step is to learn everything you can about it. This will help you to shop for antiques in the best possible way.
Some up-and-coming antique items that are becoming more and more popular among collectors can be found at opposite sides of the country. Some of these antiques can be found in New England and date from the time of 1790 to 1860, finding heavy influence from Anglo sources. These New England antiques include hutch tables, highboys, blanket chests, and pewter cupboards. If you are able to obtain any of these antique items from New England you are sure to have a winner when it comes to an antique sale. You may find some of these pieces from New England so beautiful that you may want to keep a piece or two for your own private collection of antiques.
Other antique items that are gaining popularity come from the state of Texas. Many Texas antiques have a German influence that can be seen in the craftsmanship. The time period for these antiques is from 1870 to 1900 and includes such items as rawhide chairs, tables, and wardrobes. Most of these antique items can be identified by their tapered legs and by the use of wood from Texas that is known as heart pine. If you are unsure if one of these Texas items is actually an antique or not is by checking the dovetailing that you can find on the corners of the drawers. If the dovetailing is uniform and looks too perfect then more than likely the item isn’t an antique. Dovetailing in antiques looks rough, irregular, and handmade.
If you are just starting out with your own online antique shop and want to start up a business of buying and selling antiques, you will have to obtain items such as the ones mentioned above so that you can establish your uniqueness in the antique field. You want to be able to offer antique buyers something that they can’t get anywhere else without a great deal of effort.

want to know the value of antique piece?
I inherited a cake stand (at least that's what I think it is) from my mom. It's made out of brass and it has the date 1877 inscribed on it along with some german phrases...
It has four circles containing faces on the plate part in a different kind of metal.
I have a picture of it if anyone can help me. I don't know what this thing is worth, should I have it insured?

Finally, There Will be 5 Stars Palaces in France!
Before the end of the summer, the hotels that are eligible will have their new star. Already, government is considering a five-star premium.
The fifth star? The luxury hotels in France have been waiting for it a good ten years. In most other major tourist countries, it already exists. France was a separate group with its four-star luxury that was not always understandable for foreign tourists.
Finally created, the government took the opportunity to update the criteria for classifying hotels. This was not simple: the hotel industry had a little trouble in agreeing all the terms. Luc Chatel has accelerated the procedure when he was State Secretary of Tourism, in 2007. His successor, Hervé Novelli, has maintained the pace. At the end of last year, Directors from the hotel industry have come to agree on the 124 mandatory criteria to be met by an institution to get the fifth star.
A good selling point
For Eric Boonstoppel, director of Fouquet's Barrière, four-star luxury today, it is a good marketing argument, but it is not an end in itself. It was useful to develop a standard that had not been updated since 1986. The fifth star will clarify the characteristics of so-called luxury hotels. "The ten Sofitel Accor hotels in France are also waiting impatiently. "All our Sofitel have five stars around the world, except in France, while all of them meet the same standards," said Dominique Colliat, general manager of Sofitel for Southeast Europe and the Maghreb.
A place, atmosphere, history
Thus, the French luxury? "Generally, clients who stay in luxury hotels rarely choose their hotel based on the number of stars, says Christopher Norton, Regional Vice President and General Manager of the Four Seasons George V. What makes the difference is the service."
The star will appear before the end of the summer 2009, said Herve Novelli. According to the State Secretary of Tourism, about 200 hotels would qualify. Hence the idea for "30 to 40 exception hotels", typically the palaces, to consider a new category: the five-star premium. In comparison, the Michelin Guide, in its edition of 2008, ranked 30 hotels five flags (red and black) which is a must; 224 have four flags (red and black).
In the coming weeks, Herve Novelli will establish a committee of professionals responsible for the listing of these hotels at the summit of luxury. They will have to meet the criteria of the fifth star, as well as qualitative criteria (a place, a mood, a history marked by famous writers ...). "A five star hotel premium sums Hervé Novelli, will be a five star hotel with an atmosphere."

toys not found in france?
well im going to france for an exchange program. and i need american gift ideas for the younger children (6 and 8 years old)
do they have things like playdough in france? are there any fairly inexpensive childrens toys that are rare or not found in france?
Hello Stacy,
Toys aren't really different here from those you have in America, and yes, playdough is pretty popular in France. But here are a few ideas I came up with :
A little baseball set, or an American Football ball would certainly be greatly appreciated and seen as an original gift by a french boy that age, as they're both typically American and pretty hard to find around here.
Also I remember when I was younger, whenever my dad came back from a trip in the US, he would often bring me back stuff like sophisticated frisbees that make noise when you throw them or plastic water rocket kits which I then found pretty cool and fun to play with.
If it's a girl, I suggest something like a high school musical or Hannah Montana play doll, if you can find one in your price range.
But don't worry, whatever you decide to buy, as long as the box shows the toy comes from America, the kids should be happy with it

Stretch Marks – Due to Rapid Skin Growth
The lower layer of the skin which provides it strength and elasticity tend to get thinner and uneven. As the skin is very transparent the blood vessels can be easily seen. Due to which the stretch marks happen to be seen. Men suffer from stretch marks too. These stretch marks usually disappear after period of time, but that too can stretch depending upon the marks you have.
Stretch mark starts developing to pregnant women on the abdomen during the second half of the pregnancy. The skin stretches to accommodate a growing baby which develops comparatively as there are stretch marks on the skin.
Sometimes the skin color plays a part too. According to the skin color the mark may begin as a pink, reddish, brown, or dark brown color. These reddish-brown marks fade gradually with passage of time which later on looks like shining silver lines.
Due to pregnancy your skin gets stretched a lot basically near the abdomen and breasts. These are caused partially due to hormonal changes. Women who have weaker collagen tend to get more stretch marks than the others and may take even more time to heal.
Research has showed that due to the frail pelvic floor ligaments women suffer from stretch marks. This can be corrected by doing pelvic floor exercises to avoid any incontinence of urine. Bodybuilders also get stretch marks due rapid growth of their body similar to pregnant women.
Remedial measures for stretch marks
- Applying collagen creams, even though its benefits are still unclear so check it up with your doctor before applying any lotions
-Cocoa butter creams are said to do wonders to your skin as it softens scars
-Applying olive oil and Vitamin E oil which would help in getting rid of the stretch marks
-Mixture of 1/2 cup virgin oil, 1/4 cup aloe Vera gel including liquid of 6 Vitamin E capsules and liquid from 4 Vitamin A capsules mix then together and store it in the fridge to be applied daily
-Have a healthy diet which has plenty of protein and is rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin E, which helps in tissue growth
-Mixture of any carrier oils like avocado, sweet almond, jojoba mixed with drops of lavender and few drops of chamomile can still do wonders on your skin
-Massaging your body with most of these oils would tone your body making it more supple and soft
-There is laser treatment which can be done when they are still sore and red
-Surgery is also another option given to remove those stretch marks

Where is the mint mark on my 1937 silver half dollar?
It is a walking Liberty in excellent condition any idea of its value to?
The mint mark for the 1937 Walking Liberty 1/2 is above the H in half dollar on the eagle side. It is to the left and a little above. If as you say it is nice then lets say it may grade at least extra fine. The 1937 is $7, the 1937-D is $26 and the 1937-S is $20 in that grade. The lines in the shirt should be bold for that grade. The breast of the eagle will have slight wear.
