Cuisines of India
Indian cuisine is famous the world over with its distinguishing sophisticated use of spices and herbs. Indian cuisine is strongly influenced by widespread and longstanding vegetarianism within sections of India's majority Hindu and Jain communities. Very integral to the Indian culture is the Indian cuisine and love of food amongst its vast population, cuisines differ according to community, region, and state. Indian cuisine is delightfully unique with a great variety of foods, spices, and cooking techniques, each with its distinct taste. Each religion, region, and caste has left its own influence on Indian food.
Vedic Hindus since the Vedic times gave a number of vegetarian recipes to the Indian cuisine. Later, Christians, British, Buddhists, Portuguese, Muslims from Turkey, Arabia, and Persia, and others had their influence as well when they arrived in India. Vegetarianism came to prominence during the rule of Ashoka, one of the greatest of Indian rulers who was a promoter of Buddhism; currently, 31% of Indians are vegetarians. In India, food, culture, religion, and regional festivals are all closely related. Indian meat and fish cuisine is mostly influenced by the Muslim population
Rice, atta (whole wheat flour), and almost five dozen varieties of pulses form the staple of Indian cuisine with the most important being chana (bengal gram), toor (pigeon pea or red gram), urad (black gram) and mung (green gram). Chana is usually utilized in different forms, and can be used whole or processed in a mill that removes the skin, eg dhuli moong or dhuli urad, and can also be sometimes mixed with rice and khichri (a food that is excellent for digestion and similar to the chick pea, but smaller and more flavorful). The Indian dal consists exclusively of pulses except chana. Chana is often cooked whole for breakfast and is processed into flour (besan). Most Indian curries are fried in vegetable oil. Vegetable oil too, is of different varieties. In North India, groundnut oil is traditionally been most popular for frying, while in Eastern India, Mustard oil is more commonly used. In South India, coconut oil is common. In recent decades, sunflower oil and soybean oil have gained popularity all over India. Hydrogenated vegetable oil, known as Vanaspati ghee, is also a popular cooking medium.
Spices form the most important part of the flavor of the Indian cuisine. The most important spices in Indian cuisine are chilli pepper, black mustard seed (rai), cumin (jeera), turmeric, fenugreek, ginger, coriander and asafoetida (hing). Garam masala is a very important spice and is a powder of five or more dried spices, commonly comprised of cardamom, cinnamon and clove. Some commonly used leaves are tejpata (malabathrum), bay leaf, coriander leaf, and mint leaf which adds to the zing of any tasty recipe. The common use of curry leaves is typical of South Indian cuisine. Cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, saffron, and rose petal essences are some exclusive and costly spices usually used in sweet dishes.
Dairy products such as milk, paneer, ghee (clarified butter), and yoghurt are used in a higher proportion in the North Indian cuisine whereas South Indian cuisine uses unaltered milk products in large quantities. North Indian gravies are typically dairy-based and employ thickening agents such as cashew or poppy seed paste. Milk-based sweets are also very popular fare, being a particular specialty in Bengal and Orissa. Other common ingredients include chilies, saffron, and nuts.
The Indian pancake 'roti' or 'paratha' (flat breads) are usually cooked with the use of a 'tawa' or a griddle while baking breads such as 'naan', 'kulcha' and 'khakhra is usually accomplished in a large and cylindrical coal-fired oven called the 'tandoor' even a popular dish called 'tandoori' chicken is cooked in tandoor. Other type of breads include puri and bhatoora, which are cooked by deep frying in oil, are also common. Most of North Indian food, like anywhere else in India, is vegetarian. There is an amalgamation of cuisines throughout India. Fish and seafood are very popular in the coastal states of Orissa and West Bengal.
A variety of lentils, vegetables, and roti (wheat based bread) constitute the staple food of most of North India. The preparation of these varieties can vary from place to place. Some of the most popular Northern Indian dishes include: Buknu, Gujiya, chaat, daal ki kachauri, jalebi, imarti, several types of pickles (known as achar), murabba, sharbat, pana, aam papad, and Poha.
Another famous snack famous throughout India and belonging to North Indian cuisine is the 'samosa'. These days it is common to get it in other parts of India as well. The most common filling of samosa is a boiled, fried, and mashed potato, although a variety of fillings make it a most delicious and a hot favourite all over India.
There are several popular sweets (mithai) like gulab jamun, peda, khurchan, petha, rewdi, gajak, milk cake, balusahi, bal mithai, singori, kulfi, falooda, khaja, ras malai, gulqand, and several varieties of laddu, barfi and halwa.
Some common North Indian foods such as the various kebabs and most of the meat dishes originated with Muslims advent into the country.
The countries known as Pakistan and Bangladesh were a part of North and East India prior to the partition of India. As a result, the cuisines in these countries are very similar to northern and eastern Indian cuisine.
South Indian
Main article: South Indian cuisine
South Indian cuisine is distinguished by a greater emphasis on rice as the staple grain, the liberal use of coconut and curry leaves particularly coconut oil, and the ubiquity of sambar and rasam (also called saaru) at meals.
South Indian cooking is even more vegetarian-friendly than north Indian cooking. The practice of naivedya, or ritual offerings, to Krishna at the Krishna Mutt temple in Udupi, Karnataka, has led to the Udupi style of vegetarian cooking. The variety of dishes which must be offered to Krishna forced the cooks of the temple to innovate. Traditional cooking in Udupi Ashtamatha is characterized by the use of local seasonal ingredients. Garam masala is generally avoided in South Indian cuisine.
The dosa, idli, vada, bonda, and bajji are typical South Indian snacks.
South Indian cuisine is not limited to the above snacks, which are very popular. Andhra, Chettinad, Hyderabadi Nawabi, Mangalorean, and Kerala cuisines each have distinct tastes and methods of cooking.

Knowing that there is probably, only a very small number of people in India who speak Romance languages in the first place, which Romance language would be considered the most widely-spoken in India? I was thinking either French or Portuguese, but I'm not sure.
Please support your answer with research, and don't copy and paste a Wikipedia article.

Films Russia - Russian and American Joint Ventures Flourish
In these days of political and commercial competition for world dominance, a renewed struggle has emerged between Russia and the United States. However, whilst the two superpowers are busy grappling for position on matters of energy, national defense, sovereignty, and concepts of democracy, there are private initiatives underway to bring these two great nations together. This is through the medium of creativity and specifically, joint efforts in the creation of films about common issues to the people of both countries.
Recently completed, and now internationally released, the film entitled Captivity (directed by Roland Joffe, A RAMCO production, Serge Konov “The Konov Principle”) was just such a venture. Filmed entirely in Moscow at Mosfilm, the work was a great collaboration between the two film interests of Hollywood and Moscow, and indeed, between Russians and Americans.
A new film under production from the same group, entitled Finding t.A.T.u. is a work that tackles issues facing the youth in both countries, and indeed, in most countries around the world. The problems surrounding coming of age and the peer pressure concerning sex, drugs and individual identity are exhaustively examined in this film.
Finding t.A.T.u. is the story of a lonely American girl who finds herself in Moscow, and befriends another lonely girl on the internet. They share a common bond through the music and lyrics of singing duo t.A.T.u (a gay or bisexual singing duo), and meet in person to attend a t.A.T.u concert.
However, there are also many other factors involved, which are all brilliantly presented by director Joffe; especially focusing on the choices young people have to make today, with both the obvious, and the unexpected consequences ensuing. One of the pivotal characters in the film is played by Igor Desyatnikov. This character acts as a metaphor for those decisions that must be made in loyalty-logic conflicts whether it’s exercising one’s right to free choice or simply following a pre-destined fate.
These factors are crucial to American and Russian youth, and that the film covers them in a collaborative view is impressive. “Cooperation and not conflict between these two great countries is the real issue here”, said Konov in one discussion. He continued, “Through artistic expression, the souls of all people really speak”. Putting his philosophy to practical application, RAMCO has several more large-scale projects in the planning stage.
Finding t.A.T.u. is scheduled to be released sometime in 2008, and further projects will have been commenced prior to its release date. One of the other producers, an American named Stephan Nemeth, was quoted as saying, “This film clearly demonstrates the cooperative potential between Russians and Americans. Our similarities are exploited for enhanced benefit, and our differences viewed in a new light, bringing added tolerance and understanding. It’s a total win win situation”
Indeed, if there were more projects like Finding t.A.T.u. where Russians and Americans are working side by side in a creative effort, one can quickly understand the potential of drawing people together from these two great nations.

How do check into people from Russia(scam). How do Russian ob a Passport to travel to USA?
I've had email correspondence from ceveral Russian man, now they are asking they want to travel to america, and they need a bank accountant opened here so that they can get their passport & visa. Is this scam or true. I've heard of other they want you send them money, pay for their trip here etc. But is the custom of obtaining passport over there what is the process, I guess that is what is want to know
There are many ways to know a scam. First, some questions:
The best ways to tell a scam are found on the website of Elena's Models ( http://www.elenasmodels.com ). Elena runs a very up front, and reputable dating site for Eastern Europeans looking for mates in other countries. There is a whole section on how to spot a scam.
Now, to the specifics you talk to...
1. It is not a requirement to have a bank account in the USA, to get a passport in Russia. They simply need to go and apply for it, and pay a small fee. I don't know the exact fee anymore, but it is not $300 USD, as most scammers ask for. It is less. I think my wife paid something like $60-100 for her passport last time she renewed it.
2. A Visa can only be obtained from the US Embassy in Russia. There are 3 types... visitor, fiance', or spouse. The fiance' and spouse visas have to be applied for by YOU, in the USA. ( http://www.state.gov ). The tourist visa is applied for there.. and they have to prove they will return to Russia. The only proof that is good (usually) is if the person is married, has family there, owns property, and has a bank account with "significant money" in it. And, if one of these people says "send me $xxx to open an account here"... run. The Embassy will require bank statements to prove that someone didn't just open an account to get a visa.
3. Never, never, never send money. You offer to go THERE first, and meet them. Assure them that it is more proper for you to travel to their country. It is cheaper for you, and it is relatively easy for you to get a visa to their country. Scammers will usually argue with this arrangement... they do not want you to come.
4. Any person there, who wants to come here, won't ask you for money. They are proud people. They will want to do it on their own, and will usually argue with the slightest amount of "charity" that you want to give. Again... never, never, never send money.
Check out Elena's website. It has much more information than I can give you.
If I can give you more help, send me an email.

Is it illegal to scam a foreign government?
Remember that film "The Falcon & the Snowman?" What if someone got a couple of college students majoring in Physics and created fake technological diagrams too complicated for an Embassy worker to figure out, maybe writing them in Hebrew or something, along with plastic doodads and assorted garbage, then going to the Chinese Embassy and telling them you were an employee with TRW and needed to make some quick cash? Or fake information to Iran about an imminent attack by the US, or something fun like that? Would that be illegal, say like making fake crack and selling it to drug addicts on the street?
Engaging in foreign espionage is not illegal if there are no actual secrets reveled. Of course, you could end up in an Iranian jail, or a Chinese work camp.
These guys are not idiots, you know, they can easily check out your 'secrets'

“Secret Lives of Women” TV Segment Reveals International Dating from the Foreign Women’s Perspective
Before a single interview was shot, WeTV’s editors decided to create a segment they would call “Mail Order Brides”. But what does that mean? Men who traveled overseas to meet women have often been chided with, “What are you doing – trying to find a mail order bride?” Yet people with any common sense understand that you can’t order a human being through the mail. How is it that this 150-year-old phrase still remains a part of western culture vocabulary?
It may be acceptable to criticize men for going overseas to find love, but what happens when a women’s television network does a show featuring the foreign women’s stories? A drastically different perspective unfolds.
As millions of TV’s viewers were glued to their screens on Tuesday night, many watched WeTV’s “Secret Lives of Women” and heard things they had never considered before. A clear case was made that women from other countries have valid and intelligent reasons for looking abroad.
“With over 3 ½ million more women than men in the Ukraine, women are looking elsewhere to find love”, said the female commentator.
“Men in Ukraine aren’t bad here. There are good men, but they aren’t looking for long term relationships”, said, Anna, a 21-year old woman now married to Mark, a man from Sacramento, California.
That appeared to be the common theme. Men have too many choices overseas and have less motivation to settle down. So what do these women do to find family-oriented men? They sign up with “Marriage agencies” in hopes that they can help them connect with good foreign men through this form of international dating.
“Marriage agencies are popular here,” said Nastya, an 18 year old Ukrainian woman. “When women here get to interact with foreign men they are very excited. American men have made a good impression on me.”
“In my opinion, American men are smart people – intellectual people”, said another 18 year old woman names Valaria. “They seem to immediately understand what girls want.”
So how does East meet West? The agencies facilitate international dating through letter correspondence and personal meetings. In this segment, crews followed a social gathering where 200 women came to a party, but only 25 foreign men were available for introductions.
The reactions were mixed. Many women were obviously disappointed that there weren’t more men. Others experienced cultural clashes as some of the men tried to impress them with their lives in America.
“Some men wanted to impress me. They’d show me pictures and say look at my house or my car. I don’t care about houses or cars or money. If I like you, I’m going to like you”, declared Anna. “Maybe some women are after money, but I was after a husband.”
Nastya and Valaria attended the social, but weren’t approached by any of the men until right at the end. They didn’t find what they were hoping for, but said they would certainly like to try again.
WeTV says this about themselves, “Available in nearly 74 million homes, WE tv's programming offers viewers compelling perspectives on women`s lives ranging from the ordinary to the extraordinary, presented in a non-judgmental voice.”
This segment appeared to deliver on that pledge. It may very well have been the first program ever to provide such a non-judgmental voice on behalf of these women. Perhaps a new day and new tone has been set for dialog about the true story – the human story – that is international dating.

I have a "healthy" coffee mix & want to export. How can I find foreign client?
My coffee mix is good for the heart, can boost immune system, can increase vitality and can be taken by diabetics even with sweetener.
May I ask what your coffee is... or if you have a website? A website helps because it isn't restricted to local areas, but goes international, and is a great way to showcase your product.
I'm currently working on the same thing. I'll keep your name and let you know if I find an easier way that what I've been doing; which is basically looking for coffee shop (mom & pop shops) over seas. It's easier getting coffee into an smaller shops first, than it is corporate cafes.
Also, because your coffee is healthy (maybe next time don't use "quotation" marks. Be confident and just state that it's healthy) you might want to look at gyms, health shops, natural grocers and make contacts there. If you have family over seas it might be easier having them to look around and collect names and emails for you. Having a point of contact is really helpful.
I wish you the best at and will let you know if I find an easier way at breaking the export code.
Warmest Regards,
Authentically Angela
