5 Reasons To Study A Foreign Language
Many schools or universities require the study of a foreign language. Before you start resenting the very idea of it, consider that it could be to your advantage for you to study and master a foreign language. Make no mistake about it: the whole world does NOT speak English. For anyone who has travelled to anywhere but the very largest of the world's capitals, local people still primarily speak the local language and not English. To speak with them, the only way to do so will be to learn their language.
Here are 5 reasons to why you should study a foreign language:
1. Meet new friends: Learning a foreign language opens up the door to your getting to know more people and expanding your social network. If you are studying a language such as Spanish, Portuguese, or Chinese that is spoken by a large percentage of the population, you will be literally potentially tapping into a communication network with hundreds of millions of people that was previously off limits to you. If you are studying a less popular language, just think how much more valuable you will be since there are fewer foreign speakers of it.
2. Become a more globally-viable businessperson: In the world of business, communication is king. It does not matter how well you can program a computer, do accounting, or design new products: if you cannot communicate with other people, you will not find the success you deserve in the business world. Learning to communicate in a foreign language effectively increases your value as a communicator. And, many people who become proficient in a foreign language end up actually improving their skills as a communicator in their native language, as well. Learning a foreign language makes you a better communicator overall, and it therefore makes you a more attractive employee or partner in the world of business.
3. Expand your mind: Speaking a foreign language with fluency truly means switching channels to another way of thinking. Once you become fluent enough in the foreign language you are studying, you will find your consciousness actually expanding to accommodate your new ability. Each language has its own set of vocabulary, phrases, and concepts that do not directly translate to other languages. The result for multilingual people is that they actually force their neurons to grow and connect in new ways. Effectively, you become a little bit smarter and more mentally flexible.
4. Become more attractive: Looking to impress your husband, wife, date, or that cute person that you see whenever you go shopping? Becoming conversant in a foreign language is a great way to bring yourself up a notch on the attractiveness scale. People who expand their horizons are almost always perceived as more attractive than those who are always happy with the same-old stuff, year after year.
5. Understand the world better: The world is getting smaller. Leaders and individuals in different countries are making decisions each day that affect all of us in economic, environmental, and political terms. By studying a foreign language, you equip yourself with an additional lens through which to view the actions, thoughts, and worldviews of other people. This will help you make more balanced decisions about how to act or react when you learn about world events.
Mastering a foreign language can be quite a challenge, but for each new word you memorize, for each new verb you learn to conjugate, you will be making yourself more interesting, more economically viable, and even a bit smarter and more attractive.

How do you learn foreign recipes in Sims 3 World Adventures?
I already know the recipies in the regular sims 3 town but how do you learn recipes from china, egypt and paris? Please Help me!
I believe that each travel location has two recipes to learn from it.
Simply go to that location's market and enter the bookstore. Click on the employee or the register and select buy. Find the two books and purchase them.
Just keep in mind that once you learn a recipe the book disappears, so depending on how many Sims you want to learn that recipe, select the number of books according.

China Visa Applications: How Do Chinese Tourist Visas and Chinese Business Visas Differ?
The china visa application process can be a confusing one. Failure to apply for the right category may result in a delay or cancellation of a trip. Understanding the difference between a Chinese tourist visa and a Chinese business visa can save applicants time and trouble.
All travelers to China must fill out a china visa application prior to their trip. This rule applies to all U.S. citizens and residents across the board, regardless of the nature of the trip. China visa applications can be obtained from several sources, including:
* U.S. Post Offices.
* Online passport processing centers.
* Private passport processing outlets.
* Your local Chinese embassy office.
The Embassy of the People's Republic of China differentiates between a "business" trip and a "pleasure" or "tourist" trip to China. It defines "business" as a visit to conduct "an investigation, a lecture, to do business, scientific-technological and culture exchanges, short-term advanced studies or internship for a period of no more than six months." Any visitor who falls into one of these categories must apply for a Chinese business visa. A Chinese business visa is also known as an "F" class visa.
The Chinese embassy defines a "pleasure" trip as coming to China "for sightseeing or visiting family members or friends or for other personal affairs." U.S. citizens/residents in this category must obtain a Chinese tourist visa. This classification is known as an "L" visa.
Chinese business visas ("F" visas) are granted in three types. Single-entry visas are typically valid for three to six months. A holder of this type can enter China only one time and stay for the time specified on the visa.
Applicants who plan to enter the country on more than one occasion can apply for the second or third type of Chinese business visa. A Double-entry visa allows a holder to enter China twice during the specified time. They are typically valid for six months. Holders who intend to enter the country three or more times can request a Multiple-entry visa. The Multiple-entry visa is usually valid for six to twelve months. Under special circumstances a 24 month Multiple-entry visa may be granted. Applicants requesting this extension must meet specified criteria and are subject to the discretion of the Chinese consulate.
No business of any type can be conducted by a person holding a Chinese tourist visa. This type of visa is granted strictly for pleasure and for the purposes of visiting family/friends. Any person caught conducting business while visiting China with a Chinese tourist visa may be subject to fines, prosecution and/or deportation.
Like the F-class visa, a Chinese tourist visa can be granted as a Single-entry, Double-entry or Multiple-entry permit. The times of validity are the same for both the L-class and the F-class.
China visa application forms are the same for both Chinese business visas and Chinese tourist visas. The form has a section dedicated to the nature of a particular trip or entry/entries. Several categories are listed for "nature of visit" to China. Applicants must check off which category/categories apply to a particular trip/trips. An applicant who is unsure what type of China visa he/she requires need only check off the appropriate box(es). The Chinese consulate will issue the appropriate visa in response.

Why does People's Republic of China support the regime of North Korea?
What interests does China have that they support this regime. Without China's support, it wouldn't exist anymore.
Please don't tell me that both are communist countries. China is an oligarchy and not communist at all.
It ties up US interests and by doing so reduces the effective deterrent the US has in other parts of the world.
China wants to decrease and weaken the US around the world to step into that void.

Coffee legend claims Ethiopia as the land where coffee was first cultivated and discovered. A goatherd named Kaldi is said to have eaten some, or observed his goats acting very frisky after eating some of the red berries. There has been little to prove this as more than legend.
Monks in Ethiopia are said to have brewed the berries after first throwing them into the fire as "devil's work!" As the monastery filled with the heavenly aroma of roasting beans, they were raked from the fire and crushed to extinguish the embers. The remains of the crushed beans were placed in hot water to supposedly preserve their goodness. The Monks drank the brew through out the night, and a legend was born.
Ethiopia is Africa's major exporter of Arabica coffee beans, and this is still the only variety grown there. Arabica accounts for over 70% of the World's coffee, and is grown in many countries around the World. Over 12 million people depend on Ethiopia's coffee industry.
The Ethiopian Coffee Export Enterprise controls approximately 50% of the coffee in the country. The focus is on quality products such as premium blends, organics varieties, and original unblended coffees from the plantations or farms where they are grown.
There are some special varieties in Ethiopia such as the Longberry, grown at the highest altitude in the region of Harar. This variety is the most popular, and has a winey flavor with a slight acidity. And it has been witnessed by many that an aroma of blueberry can be noted when roasting.
Another comes from the Southern Region from an area known as Sidamo. Washed Yirgacheffes beans are very popular from this region as are the Limmu, which are lighter in body and less earthy than dry processed varieties.
The Ethiopian coffees are unique in their flavor and character, and are some of the most highly quoted, washed Arabica beans on the International market. With close ties to the Yemen Mocha, it must not be subjected to a high temperature roast to preserve it's character. A strong flavor yet mild acidity make these beans a great choice for the coffee connoisseur.
Alan is a charter member of the "Boomer" generation, a Viet Nam veteran, seasoned business owner, grandfather on 10 and lives in Florida with his wife of 37 years. He enjoys building and riding recumbent bikes, playing racquetball, writing, and talking to anything that does not move fast enough! The twinkle in his eye is a combination of the sun, an active sense of humor and a positive mental attitude that grows stronger by the minute.
Alan has always had a desire to find a way to lift up and encourage others without being a counselor, doctor or preacher. The phenomena created by the movie, the Secret, has provided such an opportunity.
Now that he is finally almost out, can Bushies admit to the irony of Cheney's cowardliness in Viet Nam?
Why bring it up today? It is Veterns Day and Vets deserve to know about the type of men who sent them to war.
Cheney dodged the draft during Viet Nam. He was a coward.
That was then, but he recently sent thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of others to their death.
I think this would not have happened if at least one on Bush's Administration except for Powell had ever been active in a war zone.
Cheney's never risked anything for this country. He has only profited from the wars he promotes, but refused to actively participate in.
Don't forget Dubya's semi-service in the DOMESTIC Stateside Air National Guard and that other paragon of slime, Saxby Chambliss, who got 6 student deferments back then, while his 2008 opponent (Jim Martin) in Georgia for the Senate was serving as a lieutenant in Vietnam. Yes, Chambliss -- or better yet, SHAMELESS -- the sleazebag who slimed triple-amputee Vietnam vet Senator Max Cleland in 2002 and is now sleazing Jim Martin. Rumsfeld wasn't a vet either. What a swell bunch of folks those Republicans are, throwing away lives so cavalierly without ever having experienced what those young people, and the civilians here and overseas, are going through. Swell. May they rot in Hell.
I honor McCain's service and what he went through during his POW captivity. But why has he spent his Senate career voting AGAINST veterans' benefits, often calling the proposed legislation "too generous"? Is being married to an elite woman worth $100 MILLION keeping ole John-boy from being able to identify with the rest of us Joe 6-Packs who DON'T own 7 houses or 13 vehicles and who DON'T have a world-class health plan like Senators do?
and for elmerdildo: Viet Nam OR Vietnam: either is correct. LeArN hIsToRy.

Do You Want to Organise Your Own Lottery Syndicate!
An unbelievable sum of money is spent every week on lottery tickets by the population who hope to win the jackpot, but the truth is, the chances of winning are extremely small. And that holds for any lottery on the planet. Consider the UK National lottery for example; there is a 1 in 13,983,816 likelihood of winning that lotto and even longer odds of winning the European lottery, which stands at 1 in 76,275,360. Though you are more lightly to win a small prize on the European lotto!
Now, you are able to put those odds in your favour if say you share the cost with some friends, work colleagues or even family members. That’s ok, but how often have you read, or seen on the TV news, accounts of people who have won the lottery as part of a syndicate only to deny it and tries to keep all of the winnings to themselves. They might have genuinely bought the ticket/tickets themselves or perhaps not! Wouldn’t it have been so much easier if they entered into an official syndicate agreement and saved all the bother? You'll be able to download a syndicate agreement from the UK National lottery website at: www.national-lottery.co.uk
Hence, if you have ever debated whether to set up a lottery syndicate, here are a few useful tips for you:
Gather your syndicate members together and decide your weekly budget. 1 or several of the players might prefer to spend a lot more than the others in the syndicate, in which instance they would have to purchase double or triple entries then obtain twice or triple the percentage of whatever profits there are.
Choose someone to manage the syndicate: this would plainly have to be a person that’s reliable, well-organized and trusty! They will have to be responsible for gathering the ticket numbers and buying them. Don't forget that the tickets will have to be purchased in the manager's name and you're entirely reliant on them to pay out your profits - therefore decide wisely!
Besides, you will need to draw up a lottery syndicate agreement then have it signed, witnessed and date stamped by all the players. Syndicate agreements are can be downloaded from the internet as mentioned earlier but sadly they will not aid you if your syndicate manager was last seen boarding a plane to the Bahamas with all your winnings. That said they are a worthwhile precaution because they set down the conditions of your agreement on paper.
Getting the agreement signed and witnessed by all members is very valuable in as much as it allows players to stipulate what will happen with their percentage of the winnings if they pass away. If prepared right any portion of the deceased person can be equally distributed between the remaining members or whether it is to be passed on to their estate!
A very important point here is, whenever the agreement can be demonstrated to have been signed in advance of the winning draw, then, the prize will be exempt of death duty as the law currently stands.
The agreement must also include the syndicate policy since what will happen, if a member doesn't pay up on time. Will they surrender whatever winnings they think they are due, or will there be a time period of grace?
How much notification must each member give to leave the syndicate? What is the group’s policy on publicity in the event of them hitting the jackpot? This may represent some major problem if they are not in agreement in beforehand with a few players wanting their fifteen minutes of glory and their photographs in the news papers and others preferring to stay entirely anonymous, a few not even wanting their family and friends to know they have scooped the jackpot!
These are all factors which require discussion with all parties thus must be considered in advance to head off whatever problems that may arise
You then have to agree on the numbers you are going to use, it’s better to have the same ones every week to have an easier life for the syndicate handler! It’s also a good idea to print out a duplicate copy for the players to allow them to mark off their numbers.
Rather than paying up weekly, if the players are agreed it is more beneficial to pay up every 4th to the 8th week, then place the submissions in advance. Naturally, great care should be observed in this event since any minor error will be carried forward for a whole period of time, not simply one draw.
Agree to regular meeting with your lotto syndicate players to give them a chance to nominate any revisions they would care to see with the numbers and payment procedures etc.
There's is no escaping from the fact that running a syndicate can constitute rather a lot of work and there’s also a real big obligation for the manager.
