Where can I get a great German Mauser Kar 98k?

I need a Kar 98k that is in good condition at least, the swastika needs to be visible, and is under $800 USD.

I am currently going through the guns of a gentleman that recently passed away. His wife doesn't have any use for the collection.

One of the guns is a Mauser K98. Very good condition. I'd have to check for a swastika (?) and let you know if there is one. Does have a number of proof marks and is chambered in 8mm.

About a week ago, I had the opportunity to revisit my old friend Dave over the phone. He was an old train-watcher, just like me. He was also an old senior citizen, just like me. I asked him if he'd photographed any good trains lately. He replied, "A few, now and then."

Despite all of the hype ads you see, money does not materialize out of thin air. Somebody has to make it happen. You are that somebody.

Here are a few "dos" and "don'ts."

6. Be prepared for a lot of hard work which might be unrewarding at the start. Also be prepared to receive tons of junk mail in your in box.

7. Remember the words of Mr. Saburo Sakai, the Japanese naval air ace in World War II. He died in 2000 after surviving WW II and living to a ripe old age. In his twilight years, Mr. Sakai was a noted systems consultant for a software company in developing an aerial combat game. He lived by these words: "Never, ever give up!" I think the famed football coach Vince Lombardi said the very same thing.

I have a Kaufmann vase,13 3/4 inches tall, 6 inches wide at the center.. yellow background with Victoria Austria painted scene of a man and woman, 2 handles trimmed in gold, flowers on center back, gold trim around the top and bottom of vase. It has the number 256 stamped on the bottom in gold. It has Austria stamped in blue and a lined figure with a D in one corner of it. It also has what looks like a 12 imprinted into the base before finishing. I am curious about the history and value of the vase. I wish to study photojournalism at UNC Chapel Hill. Currently I live in NC and photography and traveling are my passions...im in high school.
1. Is the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at UNC-CH a good choice for photojournalism?
any advice for an amateur photographer would be greatly appreciated. i'm working on a Canon A-560 and I plan to invest in a canon DSLR in the next few years.

UNC Chapel Hill wouldn't be a bad choice for photojournalism - while it's not necessarily one of the schools that gets mentioned for PJ excellence, a program is more what you make of it than anything else. Almost any university can be a great one to do virtually any major, as long as you put forth a lot of effort, and UNC is no exception - in fact, because it's a big D1 school, it might be even better for you.

If you go there and get heavily involved in the campus paper or other publications, apply yourself and out-hustle everyone else, it'll be better than you can imagine.

And because it's UNC, there'll be a lot of outside folks coming in to shoot on campus, especially when it comes to sports. Try to get in with them as an assistant and sponge up all the knowledge you can; that'll make your education that much more complete.
